Chuka asked:

What are different ways I could save energy in my home? Here’s what I do now to conserve energy:
-I turn the heat off before I leave the house
-I minimize the degree to which I do laundry
-My room has one energy efficient (this is the spiral one, right?) bulb
-My lights are off when I don’t use them

Yet my bill is still extremely high. What else do I need to do or what else can I do that’s not on the list? Cheers.

my fridge goes up to 7 on the thermostat, i lowered it to 4, will this help me save energy?
uuh.. i thought by setting the dial thermostat at a lower number, i could possibly be saving some energy… it was just a guess. i dont know about these things. also is mountain man and McGyver the same person? they both seem to share the same type of ignorance.

Asking on behalf of a friend:

Aside from the big things like loft insulation, energy saving bulbs, double glazing, cavity wall insulation, all those…what helps save energy? It’s the smaller things, like switching off sockets, that add up isn’t it, so anymore tips like that? Also interested in hearing about any thing lesser known and unique.

In my town they’ve been replacing all the old street lights with those new LED one’s that are flat. They’re white and very bright, unlike the old ones that are dim and yellow, so how do they save energy if they are brighter, and why are they flat?
